This lens replaces the older 17-85mm with much sharper optics, new 4-stop image stabilization system and ability to shoot wider to 15mm.
The zoom range of this lens is equivalent to 24-136mm on a full-frame camera. When coupled with Canon’s new EOS 7D DSLR, this lens provides moviemakers and videographers with a phenomenal focal range for wide-angle scenic footage and zoomed in telephoto shots.
Compatibility note, this lens is designed to fit crop sensor (APS-C) cameras only, such as the Rebel, 30D, 40D, 60D, 7D, etc. It will not fit full frame or APS-H cameras like the 5D or 1-Series.
