Extremely rare, with only an estimated 450 copies produced between 1981 and 1983, the Nikkor 300mm f/2.0 ED IF lens represents the very pinnacle of Japanese optics ever produced.
The lens has a standard Nikon “F” mount and should fit on nearly every Nikon camera produced since the late 1950s to today. Manual aperture controls near the lens mount allow selection in full stop increments from f/2.0 to f/16. Manual focusing is smooth with significant travel.
Included is the matching TC-14C 1.4x teleconverter, purportedly designed with aspheric glass elements to optically match the lens. Use of the teleconverter gives the lens a 420mm f/2.8 and virtually eliminates the slight vignetting seen at f/2.0.
Weighing in at 16 1/2 pounds it is a very heavy lens that requires strong support. You might be able to imagine the cinematic possibilities the lens could produce on a DSLR camera.
