Nikon 300mm f2.0 ED IF

Information
Section: Nikon
Type: Lenses
Location: Oahu

This is the fastest 300mm lens ever produced for a 35mm single lens reflex camera.

Extremely rare, with only an estimated 450 copies produced between 1981 and 1983, the Nikkor 300mm f/2.0 ED IF lens represents the very pinnacle of Japanese optics ever produced.

The lens has a standard Nikon “F” mount and should fit on nearly every Nikon camera produced since the late 1950s to today. An included adapter allows the lens to be mounted to a Canon EF mount, such as a 5D Mark II, 7D, 60D and 1D Mark 4. Many of these 300mm f/2.0 lenses were converted to a PL mount and used in cinema

Manual aperture controls near the lens mount allow selection in full stop increments from f/2.0 to f/16. Manual focusing is smooth with significant travel.

Included is the matching TC-14C 1.4x teleconverter, purportedly designed with aspheric glass elements to optically match the lens. Use of the teleconverter gives the lens a 420mm f/2.8 and virtually eliminates the slight vignetting seen at f/2.0.

Weighing in at 16 1/2 pounds it is a very heavy lens that requires strong support. You might be able to imagine the cinematic possibilities the lens could produce on a DSLR camera.
